Welcome to Skynet Guide!#
Skynet Guide is a community maintained knowledge base to help you on your journey through the decentralized world of Sia and Skynet.
At the beginning there was a blockchain. It is an important technology that allowed decentralized networks like Sia or Bitcoin to be born. It uses consensus, P2P (peer to peer) network and PoW (Proof of Work) algorithm in order to:
- Remove the requirement of trust
- Remove the need for trusted third parties or central authorities
- Give control back to user and individuals
Sia utilizes these to create decentralized cloud storage platform with open marketplace for data storage. Anyone can come and start renting or providing data storage at own prices and be in complete control of own data that are encrypted and erasure coded client side.
This site is great example of these principles. It has been created by several members of Sia Community to help newcomers but also seasoned users find answers to any questions they might have. Each article goes through reviews by our Contributors and represents our shared views and knowledge. It is our aim to provide all possible resources in order for you to make educated decision when it comes to using Sia and Skynet.
Additionally, new versions of this site will be made available through backups on Skynet. This will guarantee that no matter what, knowledge present here will be always accessible by anyone.
Where to go next? Best guide to start with is Introduction to Sia. The site features many sections, so feel free to explore them. If you are looking for help, check our comprehensive FAQ and make sure to use the Search feature with keywords of your interest.
